On 10/4/2021, the Reserve Bank of India appointed Rajneesh Sharma as the Administrator for SREI Infrastructure Finance Limited and its subsidiary, Srei Equipment Finance due to concerns over the Companies' defaults. The Administrator supersedes the Boards of both Companies.
On 10/8/2021, the Reserve Bank of India filed applications with the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Kolkata Bench, for the initiation of a Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) against Srei Infrastructure Finance Limited and Srei Equipment Finance Limited (a subsidiary of Srei Infrastructure Finance Limited), under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.
