Business Summary
Genesis Lease Limited is an aviation company that acquires and leases commercial jet aircraft and other aviation assets. Its aircraft are leased under long-term contracts to airlines throughout the world. Genesis Lease was formed at the direction of GE Commercial Aviation Services Limited to acquire initial portfolio from affiliates of GE and to develop an independent aircraft leasing business. As of December 31, 2008, the weighted average age of its aircraft was 6.6 years, and the weighted average remaining lease term on the aircraft was 4.5 years. At December 31, 2008, the portfolio consisted of 54 aircraft, 50 which are in operation with 34 airlines located in 19 countries. The portfolio includes 46 narrow-body aircraft, four cargo aircraft, two regional jets and two wide-body passenger aircraft. In March 2010, AerCap Holdings N.V. and Genesis Lease Limited (Genesis) announced the completion of their amalgamation, pursuant to which Genesis became a wholly owned subsidiary of AerCap.
