Business Summary
MFS Intermediate Income Trust (the fund) is a diversified closed-end management investment company. The Fund’s investment objective is to seek high current income but may also consider capital appreciation. The primary purpose of the managed distribution policy is to provide shareholders with a constant, but not guaranteed, fixed minimum rate of distribution each month. The Fund’s investment adviser is Massachusetts Financial Services Company (MFS). MFS normally invests the Fund’s assets primarily in debt instruments. MFS generally invests substantially all of the Fund’s assets in investment grade quality debt instruments. MFS may invest the Fund’s assets in foreign securities. MFS normally invests the Fund's assets across different industries and sectors, but MFS may invest a significant percentage of the fund's assets in issuers in a single industry or sector. The Fund seeks to pay monthly distributions based on an annual rate of 8.50% of the Fund’s average monthly net asset value.
