Business Summary
Tactex Controls Inc. develops and manufactures products using Kinotex, a pressure sensing technology based on fiber optics, continually develops the technology, and sub-licenses rights to this technology. The Company uses Kinotex to create touch or force sensitive surfaces. A single Kinotex sensing element consists of two plastic optical fibers, one transmit fiber and one receive fiber. These elements are called taxels and are embedded in cellular foam. Traditional Kinotex sensors use optical fibres to send light signals into a foam sensing surface. Kinotex RST replaces the optical fibres with embedded opto-electronic devices. Using Kinotex foam and fibre optic technology, Tactex can develop small, unobtrusive single point sensors or complete single touch sensing systems for almost any application where a touch or force sensitive surface is required. Tactex creates custom array sensors suitable for use in medical, industrial, consumer electronics, robotics and security applications.
