Fairmount Santrol Inc., formerly Fairmount Minerals, Ltd., produces industrial and commercial foundry resin-coated sand in the United States. It offers pool filter sand that cleans pool water; black magnum coal slag products; filter gravels to remove clay, shale, and inorganic impurities; engineered elastomer coated sand that is used as an alternative to crumb rubber infill for synthetic turf; bunker sand for use in golf courts; multi-colored stone for epoxy basement, driveway, and patio applications; lake and bank sands for the foundry industry; and Nitamin coated sand that provides fertilizer to greens and tees, as well as used for construction mixes and divot repair. The company also provides oilfield products, such as aqueous soluble perforation ball sealers, as well as superset activators, which are liquid chemicals used to help bond curable resin proppants; play sand for traction ballast, steps, sidewalks, driveways, and plants and gardens; curable proppants to prevent flowback, reduce embedment and crush fines, and increase long term conductivity; and tempered or pre-cured proppants. In addition, it offers resin-coated sands to reduce emissions, smoke, and odor when producing shell sand casting cores, and molds; silica sands; colored minerals for swimming pool plaster; and specialty sands, including zircon, chromite, ceramics, and custom blended sands, as well as dust suppressants. Fairmount offers its products through its network of distributors. The company serves abrasive, construction, filler and extender, filtration media, foundry, glass, industrial, oil and gas, play and pool filter sand, and sports turf markets. Fairmount was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in Chardon, Ohio. The Company has mining locations, resin-coated sand manufacturing facilities, a processing site, and terminal locations in the United States and Mexico.
