Amazon to invest 100 mdd for mexico expansion

Amazon, the e-commerce giant, will invest $100 million to expand its presence in Mexico. The amount involves the opening of two new shipping centers in Apodaca, Nuevo León, and in Tlajomulco, Jalisco; in addition to a building in the State of Mexico along with 12 new delivery stations throughout the country.

In a statement, the company detailed that this project envisages the creation of more than 1,500 direct and indirect jobs in the country.

"The growth of Amazon's operations in Mexico reflects the commitment to our customers in the country, while allowing us to offer an unsurpassed service and shopping experience. We also have a deep duty to Mexico and the communities where we operate, which is why we are creating more than a thousand new jobs," said Diego Méndez de la Luz, Amazon's Director of Operations and Logistics Services in Mexico.0}

He indicated that the company will continue to work to bring to its customers faster the products they order through its platform.

Jaime Rodríguez Calderón, governor of Nuevo León, reiterated his support for the e-commerce company in his foray into the entity.

"We are very excited that a renowned company like Amazon has decided to expand its operations in Nuevo León to open its first shipping center in the north of the country. We are sure that you will find in the state the necessary conditions to continue growing. The United States has for many years been the main foreign investor in Nuevo León, it is our main ally, and this is due, among many things, to the strategic location we enjoy, having an international bridge and direct border with the country," he said.

These new buildings represent about 69 thousand square meters, which is equivalent to a space larger than the total area of the Aztec Stadium.

"This new investment is great news for Jalisco because it represents a major economic spill, the creation of hundreds of jobs and the confidence of private initiative in our state. It will also help our state's small and medium-sized enterprises adapt to new market demands and market their products through electronic channels faster and at lower cost," said Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, governor of Jalisco.

He said that this was a sign of strategies for getting ahead in times of uncertainty and that their openness to continue working together with the private sector would continue.

"We are pleased with Amazon's trust in the State of Mexico, this makes Amazon's presence in our country, of great relevance and we are very pleased that it has chosen the State of Mexico to install this space, the confidence in the legal certainty provided by the State of Mexico, the ability it has to generate qualified labor , is what we see in most workers," Said Alfredo del Mazo, governor of the State of Mexico.

He argued that such investments strengthen the state's infrastructure that place it as an entity with the potential to become the logistics center of the country.

Today, Amazon's operations in Mexico comprise 5 shipping centers, 2 support buildings, 2 sorting centers and 27 delivery stations for logistics services.
