Business Summary
Western Asset Emerging Markets Income Fund Inc. (the Fund) is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Fund's primary investment objective is to seek high current income. As a secondary objective, the Fund seeks capital appreciation. Normally, the Fund invests approximately 80% of its net assets plus any borrowings for investment purposes in debt securities of government and government related issuers located in market countries, including participations in loans between governments and financial institutions, and of entities organized to restructure the outstanding debt of such issuers, and in debt securities of corporate issuers located in various market countries. It invests in industries, including sovereign bonds, corporate bonds and notes, consumer discretionary, consumer staples, energy, financials, industrials, materials, telecommunication services and utilities. Legg Mason Partners Fund Advisor, LLC is the investment manager of the Fund.
